Set in the hamlet of Leadgate, 2 miles South West of Alston, in the heart of the North Pennines (an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, also known as the 'Roof of England' or 'England's Last Wilderness).
Brownside House dates back to 1849 and is set in 2 acres of mature gardens and fell land (you can click on the images on the photos on the left to see larger pictures) with wonderful views across the South Tyne Valley. Alston offers walks on the unspoilt fells of the North Pennines, the chance to explore old lead mines, go fishing for salmon, trout and sea trout on the wonderfully undiscovered river banks of the river South Tyne. You can go and play on the highest golf course in England, travel to Hadrian's Wall (20 mies), visit the Lake District (25 miles), the Yorkshire Dales, County Durham, Northumberland and Southern Scotland. Go cycling (we're right on the C2C cycle route) through the quiet valleys and imposing fells. Accommodation: Babies & young children are welcome. Cots and high chairs can be provided. Babysitting can be arranged. Dogs also welcome. Tariff:
Guests are asked not to smoke within the house. |
