Alston stands on a crossroads at the heart of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and boasts an interesting variety of local features - shops, galleries and inns - up, down and around it's cobbled Front Street and chartered Market Cross.

Situated at the foot of the town, the Hillcrest Hotel offers a charming and hospitable base or stopping-off point. At a local level you can enjoy the South Tynedale Railway - a three mile round trip through beautiful countryside on a narrow-gauge train; excellent fishing - brown trout, sea trout and salmon when in season on the South Tyne River; Cycling - on the C2C route; walking or hiking - on the Pennine Way; horse-riding; golfing - nine-hole course, beautiful but nine holes is enough, then choose a tenth!; skiing - in season (nearby cottage hospital and ambulance service available!) and much more besides.

The Hotel is privately owned and managed by a small team of professionals whose aim is to offer a quality stay at realistic prices.

We Offer:

Eleven centrally heated bedrooms, nine en suite, of which four are very large family rooms with extra beds. All have colour T.V., tea & coffee facilities, hair dryers and the use of an iron and ironing board.
Drying rooms for walking "gear" on all floors.
Direct dial telephones in all rooms.
Traditional ales on draught, and an open coal fire on cooler nights gives a warm inviting feel to our lounge bar.
Non smoking restaurant, separate breakfast and tea rooms, and a large function room for buffets, weddings, christenings etc. catering for up to about 150 people.
Food is freshly prepared on our premises, with vegetarians well catered for. We have restaurant and bar menus and are open to non residents.
Morning coffee and afternoon teas served. Coach parties very welcome.
Packed lunches available on request.
Residents lounge (non smoking) with T.V., books and games.
Private meeting rooms.
Safe housing for cycles and dogs.
Ample adjacent car and coach parking.
Extensive, one and a half acre, well maintained gardens, accessed from the lounge bar, to stroll in, or for outside functions with a marquee.

Tariff:

Ł30 per person, including breakfast (English or other).
Children under 14 half-price, when sharing room with family.
Family room let to three or four people, less Ł4 per person.
Booking of four or more nights, less 10% on standard rate.
Non-refundable deposit of 25%, minimum of Ł10 payable by cheque or credit card at time of booking.

Visa, Mastercard, Switch and Delta cards are all accepted.
